[0:01]
good morning fellow
[0:03]
humans just um disinfecting my my ear
[0:09]
piercings it's still pretty sore
[0:12]
cartilage is no joke it's it's still
[0:15]
sore just to touch
[0:17]
it oh I don't know how long it's been
[0:19]
you know I got these in
[0:23]
Kentucky so at least weeks and weeks
[0:27]
ago I don't know I need to look that up
[0:31]
cuz I'm well I guess it doesn't matter I
[0:33]
just I can't wait to put Hoops in these
[0:35]
I think I'm going to wait though until
[0:37]
when it when I no longer feel them when
[0:39]
I do this then I'll know I think that I
[0:42]
can do
[0:44]
it I don't know it's still pretty sore I
[0:47]
love these things the way they are don't
[0:50]
mind the studs but I just really want
[0:54]
really want hoops and all my
[0:58]
earrings um
[1:01]
Bailey might come over here he's right
[1:03]
there of
[1:05]
course so it's early it's 7 in the
[1:08]
morning um the sun is just starting to
[1:10]
come
[1:11]
up we have a very long day today 6 hours
[1:15]
of driving at
[1:17]
least probably you know like an 8 hour
[1:20]
trip cuz there'll be stops along the way
[1:22]
truck stops things like that yeah and if
[1:25]
I
[1:26]
get feel like I need a break or
[1:28]
something might have to stop somewhere
[1:32]
um so it's going to be a long day I need
[1:36]
to shower this
[1:37]
morning which so that's going to take up
[1:40]
some of my day I really wanted
[1:42]
to wanted to live super early because
[1:46]
it's so long
[1:49]
but
[1:53]
um I don't know
[1:55]
I well I all right yeah I'm not really
[1:59]
awake yet yeah so I tried going to bed
[2:03]
early last night like around 8 or
[2:05]
something like that but meley did not
[2:07]
allow this he would not stop crying just
[2:12]
being demanding like he has so that
[2:14]
didn't happen and I ended up being up
[2:16]
until
[2:17]
like I don't even know someone time
[2:21]
between midnight and 2 in the
[2:23]
morning
[2:25]
so I think I slept five or six hours
[2:30]
which is enough for me but I'm getting
[2:33]
you know it's a slow start
[2:34]
today I think
[2:40]
um I don't know where I was going with
[2:48]
that so I'm going to be
[2:51]
in
[2:53]
Northwestern
[2:55]
Nebraska for a day and a half and then
[2:58]
then we leave that state so we won't be
[3:00]
there very
[3:02]
long I'm going to motivate myself and
[3:06]
get my day
[3:08]
started it just occurred to me that I
[3:11]
probably should explain what motivating
[3:13]
myself means
[3:15]
because oh it's another way we use
[3:18]
language differently I'm not forcing
[3:21]
myself out of this bed I'm
[3:26]
not however you guys motivate yourself
[3:30]
that's not what I do
[3:32]
I'm it's more
[3:35]
like just an acknowledgement okay we're
[3:38]
going to have to get the day started
[3:41]
soon and you know I know what that you
[3:44]
know it's going to be a long day and I'm
[3:47]
I'm ready for it I'll deal with it you
[3:49]
know the way that I do is like a river
[3:52]
that metaphor actually works really well
[3:54]
for me hello
[3:56]
Bailey so motivating myself really
[4:00]
I guess it just
[4:02]
means sitting
[4:05]
here almost in a mindful waying but
[4:07]
that's just my natural
[4:09]
state
[4:12]
and at some point I'll get up and my day
[4:15]
will be
[4:16]
good haven't moved
[4:19]
yet so I was just thinking
[4:22]
about Pirates and
[4:25]
sailors now they always wore an
[4:27]
earring lots of them not all of them
[4:30]
right but you know there's different
[4:33]
reasons they did that but what gets me I
[4:36]
always find myself thinking about is
[4:38]
they knew that this thing was important
[4:40]
that they had to embody it they couldn't
[4:42]
just possess it they had to make it a
[4:43]
part of their bodies
[4:46]
because it was that important to them it
[4:50]
couldn't be
[4:51]
lost you know some of them more than
[4:54]
because you know there's the old saying
[4:56]
that it's so they could pay for the own
[4:59]
funerals if they're lost at sea or in a
[5:02]
foreign
[5:04]
land um that wasn't the only reason
[5:07]
they're some some of was superstitious
[5:09]
they believed in a fairy men I'm
[5:11]
learning that's just learning this today
[5:16]
um that took them to the river stins and
[5:19]
that was um one of the reasons they wore
[5:22]
them or they
[5:23]
just just had Superstition around it
[5:26]
they believed that would help them at
[5:27]
scene they lived dangerous lives and
[5:32]
they found a way to integrate that fear
[5:36]
into their lives
[5:40]
and plan for the
[5:42]
future like there's so many layers to it
[5:46]
and that one simple Act of a silver or
[5:48]
gold earring in their
[5:51]
ear my mind often returns to that story
[5:54]
I don't want not often but fairly
[5:57]
regularly because there's just you know
[6:00]
I've got I've got lots of earrings you
[6:02]
know and sometimes it's just that's one
[6:05]
of my associations with them is Pirates
[6:08]
and
[6:11]
sailors that
[6:13]
they valued they're in so much that it
[6:18]
wasn't something they just wore on a
[6:19]
necklace like like a lot of us might
[6:22]
with something you know like a key or
[6:24]
something that's important to
[6:27]
us they made sure that no no matter what
[6:30]
happens in their
[6:32]
lives that earring was a part of them
