[0:00]
hello fellow
[0:02]
humans so I want to talk about an Oregon
[0:05]
State Park
[0:06]
Ranger I won to name this person I'm not
[0:09]
trying to create any drama with anybody
[0:11]
but I just need to express my feelings
[0:13]
about some things that have
[0:16]
happened so I got here 10 days
[0:19]
ago
[0:21]
and I thought it went pretty well I met
[0:26]
this Ranger and we just had some casual
[0:28]
chitchat and this person and help me
[0:31]
book my stay and told me that we're next
[0:34]
to a river told me that I could drive my
[0:37]
Jeep down there if I wanted to told me
[0:39]
about the area a little bit told me that
[0:41]
once or maybe sometimes I don't know the
[0:44]
river overflows into the
[0:46]
campground and that got me thinking I've
[0:49]
been thinking about it for the past
[0:52]
week so today when I saw him I brought
[0:55]
that up so I went down there to I had to
[0:58]
fix a mistake I had book this place a
[1:00]
day earlier than I intended to so I went
[1:04]
down there to fix that mistake cuz I
[1:06]
couldn't do it on the
[1:09]
website and the first thing he said to
[1:12]
me was another 14 days I mean I'm
[1:14]
leaving here because there are rules so
[1:17]
I'm staying somewhere else for 3 days
[1:19]
and then I'm coming back for 14 that is
[1:21]
how he started the conversation with me
[1:23]
which felt very invalidating like like I
[1:26]
was doing something
[1:27]
wrong I've been a
[1:30]
model camp site occupant for the time
[1:35]
that I've been
[1:36]
here
[1:38]
so I truly don't understand that mindset
[1:41]
like why did he have to approach it that
[1:43]
way it didn't it didn't feel nice it
[1:45]
felt real bad
[1:47]
actually and then while they were
[1:49]
changing my
[1:52]
reservations I just mentioned the thing
[1:54]
he had said about the river and I asked
[1:56]
as the campground close because I said
[1:58]
if it happens I would like to EXP
[1:59]
experience it like I'm I'm open to that
[2:02]
I understand it's flooding but you know
[2:05]
the way he had described it to me that
[2:07]
first day it didn't sound terrible it
[2:09]
didn't sound like you know I've
[2:11]
experienced that in Michigan when I was
[2:12]
a kid I you know it's like it's a
[2:15]
natural event that I would want to
[2:18]
embrace rather than um fear or you know
[2:23]
just in my integrated state of
[2:26]
being I prepare for things I
[2:31]
and I embrace them so he tells me about
[2:34]
how this happen sometimes so I'm
[2:36]
thinking okay that that sounds
[2:37]
interesting I might like this I might it
[2:39]
might be an interesting experience to
[2:41]
have in
[2:42]
life but his response was that's some
[2:45]
dark humor there's flooding down in
[2:47]
Florida maybe you should go
[2:50]
there and this just feels wrong to me I
[2:53]
have been nothing but nice to this
[2:57]
person been very friendly but I just get
[2:59]
get this guarded vibe from him
[3:03]
and these the way that he talks to me is
[3:07]
very
[3:09]
dismissive and just it's just not right
[3:12]
and I just I don't know what to do with
[3:14]
that because I'm not going to let that
[3:16]
person stop me from doing what I'm
[3:18]
trying to do here I want to spend time
[3:21]
here because I'm trying to learn about
[3:22]
this area it seems perfectly natural
[3:25]
that you would want to book a place
[3:27]
where you can do that from this is my
[3:29]
base camp right
[3:32]
now and his reaction makes it makes zero
[3:35]
sense to me all I can think is was this
[3:37]
person law enforcement in in a previous
[3:39]
life because he gives me that Vibe and
[3:41]
that's what's been happening with the
[3:42]
park rangers these are no longer people
[3:45]
who
[3:46]
actually care about the land or People
[3:49]
Like Us who are are genuinely trying to
[3:53]
immerse ourselves in it because we want
[3:56]
a better quality of life a more holistic
[3:58]
approach to Nature
[4:06]
it's unsettling I'm pretty unsettled by
[4:08]
that experience and I'm still processing
[4:10]
it
