[0:01]
so hello
[0:02]
everybody mey would you please stop this
[0:05]
cat just cannot like just leave me alone
[0:09]
ever
[0:11]
so I just thought I'll make a video this
[0:15]
is more for my viewers than it is for
[0:18]
me um I feel it's important so I'm I
[0:23]
don't even know what I'm let me just try
[0:25]
to say what I had on my mind
[0:28]
so I'm sure some of you are probably
[0:30]
wondering how things went with the
[0:34]
whole gay Awakening version
[0:38]
2.0 and it's actually very interesting I
[0:41]
guess so I'm going to try to unpack that
[0:43]
for you because there's a lesson here
[0:45]
that I I hope that you will take from
[0:49]
this
[0:52]
so first of all I think it's important
[0:55]
to note that I actually did think that
[0:57]
this person was
[1:02]
I mean there's no way this person is not
[1:04]
special because for that person to
[1:06]
attract my attention they have to be so
[1:11]
that's number one okay this person is
[1:14]
probably he's awesome like I
[1:17]
said so that kind of
[1:22]
adds a certain layer or complexity to
[1:25]
this for me
[1:27]
because when I realize that there might
[1:31]
have been a connection there that I
[1:33]
completely missed in the
[1:35]
moment
[1:39]
I I really didn't like the idea
[1:43]
of a missed opportunity one that I
[1:46]
haven't had in two decades you know so
[1:49]
so that's like that's like number one
[1:52]
that was that was weighing on
[1:54]
me but it's important to also note that
[2:00]
for me regardless of how that turned out
[2:03]
the encounter itself is what's important
[2:07]
not because of the person the person's
[2:09]
almost
[2:11]
like
[2:12]
um just a catalyst for my own growth
[2:15]
this experience caused all kinds of
[2:18]
internal shifts for me and a lot of
[2:19]
introspection for days the whole time
[2:21]
I've been here in fact and it wasn't
[2:24]
always comfortable a lot of it wasn't
[2:26]
comfortable and it you know I kind of
[2:28]
went back and forth where I was thinking
[2:30]
this is exactly why I avoided this for
[2:32]
two decades cuz this is not a internal
[2:35]
state that I enjoy being in so so there
[2:38]
was that and then there was but maybe
[2:42]
you've done a lot of growing you know
[2:44]
over the years maybe you
[2:47]
could maybe this is something you could
[2:49]
integrate into your life now and maybe
[2:52]
it's worth exploring so I kind of kept
[2:53]
going back and forth between these two
[2:56]
things
[2:58]
and um
[3:02]
so it was like I had two choices I could
[3:04]
either Retreat back into
[3:07]
myself or I could do the absolutely
[3:10]
terrifying scary as thing and see
[3:16]
if this could go
[3:17]
somewhere and the only way to do that is
[3:20]
to go see this person and just say hi
[3:23]
and just see where it goes from there
[3:26]
and that terrified me that was and I and
[3:30]
I would think about that it's like okay
[3:32]
well any other
[3:35]
situation I'd just go talk to the person
[3:37]
but this somehow this is different and
[3:40]
it's
[3:41]
because even though you guys see me on
[3:44]
camera and you see how authentic I am my
[3:48]
authenticity is not vulnerability for me
[3:51]
I whatever I share with
[3:53]
you is not something you can use against
[3:56]
me because
[3:59]
it just it won't affect me like I it's
[4:03]
I'm not being vulnerable I'm just being
[4:06]
authentic and I was just being authentic
[4:08]
when I told him he was awesome I was
[4:10]
just being
[4:11]
myself but this is different now I
[4:15]
understand that
[4:20]
my my emotions were wrapped up in this
[4:22]
one
[4:25]
where I felt
[4:28]
vulnerable and
[4:31]
going to see this
[4:34]
person even though I wasn't attached to
[4:36]
an outcome and I was perfectly
[4:38]
comfortable with the idea of being
[4:40]
rejected because what I just wanted was
[4:45]
just
[4:47]
to explore the possibility because there
[4:50]
was
[4:51]
this
[4:55]
this what's the word I'm looking for
[4:57]
here
[5:00]
potential it felt like there was a
[5:02]
potential here and I had a choice of
[5:05]
either pursuing it or not but pursuing
[5:08]
it that was scary so this is how my day
[5:11]
went so I woke up this morning real
[5:14]
early and I went I I immediately went
[5:17]
hiking 6:00 in the morning actually it
[5:19]
was still dark out and I just sort
[5:22]
of um kind of use my intuition to guide
[5:27]
me to the ocean cuz I didn't use any
[5:28]
lights or they was dark out but I still
[5:31]
managed to get there and I I was out
[5:34]
there and it was raining and it was it
[5:35]
was so pleasant I really loved this
[5:41]
and because you know that's why I came
[5:43]
here I was looking forward to just the
[5:46]
rain and and what that experience would
[5:48]
be like and I got to finally experience
[5:50]
that for the first time I feel like so
[5:53]
um
[5:55]
anyways and I stayed out there a couple
[5:57]
of hours and
[6:00]
I must have I probably came back at some
[6:02]
point but something kept drawing me back
[6:04]
outside like I just could not be in this
[6:06]
RV my
[6:07]
energy my internal state was
[6:12]
so
[6:17]
um I'm just struggling with some of
[6:19]
these words here I'm sorry
[6:22]
so it was like this frantic energy in me
[6:25]
like I just I I could not sit still is
[6:29]
what it was I could not sit still I
[6:31]
needed to be outside I get like this
[6:34]
sometimes when something
[6:38]
is challenging my internal state that
[6:41]
seems to be what I do I get out of
[6:43]
nature is what I
[6:44]
do so the second time I went back out
[6:48]
and all the trails are are near the gate
[6:50]
house like like there's no way of
[6:54]
avoiding you know and I've got all these
[6:56]
thoughts going on like I don't want this
[6:58]
person thinking that I'm just trying
[6:59]
like you
[7:01]
know like I'm legitimately going hiking
[7:04]
like this is not about you but at the
[7:06]
same time it is because it's
[7:10]
like I'm just really trying
[7:20]
to I am just I am in aninal space with
[7:23]
this situation like it just it
[7:27]
was something that I
[7:32]
just it dominated me this weekend my
[7:36]
thoughts were all focused on this like I
[7:38]
just couldn't seem to let this
[7:41]
go so
[7:43]
anyways
[7:44]
um somehow I managed to find the courage
[7:47]
to walk up to that gate house not
[7:49]
knowing if it was there not knowing what
[7:52]
I was going to do I was just going to
[7:53]
say hello and then whatever happened
[7:56]
happened but he wasn't there so I just
[7:58]
went hiking
[7:59]
but I was very proud of myself because
[8:02]
that that was vulnerability and that was
[8:06]
fear
[8:08]
and it took strength to do that and I
[8:11]
want you to know that I did this because
[8:13]
I'm trying to show you that I practice
[8:16]
what I preach so
[8:20]
when I really thought this through so
[8:23]
like you guys watched me have fear about
[8:27]
driving up that mountain
[8:30]
for a whole week I had to do this and I
[8:32]
did it and I just worked with my fear
[8:34]
and I said so why am I treating this
[8:36]
fear differently you know this is
[8:38]
emotional Fe this is vulnerability
[8:40]
related to my emotions so completely
[8:42]
different situation but the same
[8:45]
principle and I had to just tell myself
[8:49]
that you know treat this like you did
[8:51]
the mountain and I did I was very proud
[8:53]
of
[8:54]
this and he wasn't there which was a
[8:57]
little disappointing and also some
[9:00]
relief of course and I just you know I
[9:03]
just kept going to the ocean this ocean
[9:05]
just keeps keeps drawing me to
[9:08]
it and then there was like a third time
[9:11]
that I went outside I think that time I
[9:13]
probably walked into town several miles
[9:16]
in the rain and it was just a fun
[9:19]
fabulous experience I had my headphones
[9:20]
on and I'm just just having the best
[9:24]
time my phone told me I'd walk something
[9:26]
like 16,000 steps
[9:30]
and on the way back it was getting later
[9:33]
in the day and I was like let's just try
[9:35]
again like I was like I cuz I'm leaving
[9:37]
in the morning and I was like this might
[9:40]
be the last opportunity just just go
[9:43]
check but I was so scared like I
[9:47]
just I had I had the courage to do it
[9:50]
the first time and I was like I don't
[9:52]
know if I can do it a second time but I
[9:54]
did I went up there and he still wasn't
[9:57]
there so you know bit of a bummer but I
[10:02]
did it I'm so proud of myself for that
[10:04]
because what I did was allowed myself to
[10:07]
be vulnerable to be scared and to still
[10:11]
allow myself to be open to the
[10:14]
possibility of connection with another
[10:16]
human
[10:19]
being and that's the lesson I want you
[10:21]
to take from
[10:23]
this so tomorrow I'm probably going to
[10:27]
bed early tonight probably soon after I
[10:30]
finish recording this and it's because I
[10:34]
want to get up early I have like a lot
[10:36]
of this place is a bit there's some
[10:39]
chaos in here like I've got to kind of
[10:41]
clean things up and you know just I have
[10:44]
to move move to another campground
[10:46]
tomorrow so um I just want to just you
[10:49]
know get all that done in the morning
[10:51]
and then I don't know from there I think
[10:56]
that that
[10:59]
it's you know the opportunity it's a
[11:03]
missed opportunity it's over it happened
[11:05]
I had this one encounter that
[11:09]
was something I'll probably remember for
[11:11]
a long time it was pretty amazing I
[11:17]
just because it opened up something in
[11:20]
me this part's not about him this is
[11:22]
about
[11:27]
how I love
[11:30]
myself grow from this
[11:35]
experience and it's okay that you
[11:40]
know there's like you know no real
[11:43]
resolution it there it just is what it
[11:46]
is you can
[11:50]
find this part's harder to explain CU
[11:52]
now we're getting into kind of what it
[11:54]
means to be an integrated person I don't
[11:56]
really know how
[11:57]
to um share this
[12:01]
part most
[12:03]
people try to get validation oh my phone
[12:07]
at 5% battery I forgot about that hold
[12:09]
on most people try to get validation
[12:12]
from external sources not from
[12:14]
themselves you know they
[12:17]
might feel some sense of um a lack of
[12:22]
completion because they weren't able to
[12:25]
find out definitively does this person
[12:27]
like me or not
[12:29]
um but you don't have to look at things
[12:32]
that way you can find it from
[12:35]
within all right sorry Bailey please
[12:38]
Bailey don't okay
[12:40]
whatever
[12:43]
um so I don't know if I'm ever coming
[12:47]
back here I don't really like this
[12:50]
Campground the sites are very close
[12:53]
together and it just doesn't it's
[12:55]
there's just like this chaotic energy to
[12:58]
the place like I absolutely loved being
[13:01]
on the coast and experiencing that
[13:04]
for you know days of me just being out
[13:07]
there I really really enjoyed that part
[13:10]
um there
[13:12]
are there are some sites that I did like
[13:15]
cuz I went around I actually that was
[13:16]
another thing I did today I took my my
[13:19]
um my bag of ducks out and I handed them
[13:21]
out to all the different Jeeps all of
[13:23]
them and I even noticed one person
[13:26]
didn't keep theirs because like 10
[13:28]
minutes later I was walking walk into
[13:29]
the hiking trails and he drove by and
[13:31]
there was no duck and I just knew that
[13:34]
one wasn't keeping it but I gave them to
[13:35]
all of the all of the Jeeps that was a
[13:37]
fun little thing I did and then while I
[13:40]
was doing that I
[13:42]
was um
[13:44]
just checking out which campsites were
[13:46]
the best ones where I would feel the
[13:49]
most comfortable and I made a note of
[13:51]
those and then when I was trying to
[13:54]
figure out where am I going after the
[13:56]
campground I'm going to next cuz I
[13:59]
thought I would come back here kind of
[14:00]
cycle between the two maybe for the
[14:02]
winter cuz I'm not trying to head north
[14:04]
I'm trying to
[14:08]
um explore Bailey stop it man
[14:13]
God trying to explore the forest and all
[14:15]
of
[14:17]
that um but here
[14:21]
so that cat just completely just wrecked
[14:24]
my brain just now he never leaves me
[14:26]
alone I love this cat to death but he
[14:29]
has no sense of
[14:32]
boundaries um and trust me he's fine
[14:34]
he's just over there just being as a
[14:36]
normal self
[14:38]
um that's my train of
[14:42]
thought oh so I was thinking I'd
[14:45]
probably come back here this is also
[14:46]
where the dump station is the other Park
[14:48]
doesn't have one um but I couldn't find
[14:51]
any for the ones that I liked like if I
[14:54]
was to come back here I'd be at a site
[14:56]
that I don't really want to be at and
[14:59]
I don't think the fact that there is
[15:01]
someone here that I might be interested
[15:04]
in who may or may not have any interest
[15:07]
in me you know as a reason
[15:11]
to
[15:12]
um like I am a sovereign person like I'm
[15:16]
not trying to change myself for
[15:20]
nobody
[15:22]
and so I just don't know from here I
[15:26]
don't know what I'm doing after these
[15:27]
next two weeks for the next two weeks
[15:29]
I'm going to be at a different
[15:30]
Campground and I'm just going to be
[15:33]
exploring the forest there you know all
[15:35]
the trails everything that I can all the
[15:37]
different roads and you know so that's
[15:39]
what I'll be that's what I'll be
[15:40]
documenting at that point and what I do
[15:42]
after that I just don't know I'm just
[15:44]
going to let life unfold like I always
[15:46]
do there's another lesson for you
