[0:00]
Morning, YouTube. It's Monday morning.
[0:02]
It's 9:00 a.m. here. It's my day off, so
[0:05]
I'm just hanging out. Been reflecting on
[0:08]
some things. I thought I'd try to share
[0:09]
my thoughts with you.
[0:12]
So, yesterday I was browsing YouTube
[0:14]
just randomly. It's kind of a boring
[0:17]
night. I was just browsing YouTube and I
[0:19]
ended up on this live stream, some kind
[0:21]
of some kind of weather live stream
[0:23]
where they were tracking tornadoes in
[0:25]
the Midwest.
[0:27]
And I watched over and over people
[0:29]
willing to pay money to ask the most
[0:31]
basic questions that they could Google.
[0:34]
Like, what's the weather going to be in
[0:36]
Jacksonville, Florida? Here's 20 bucks
[0:38]
to answer that question.
[0:41]
And I've been sharing raw, authentic
[0:43]
content for nearly two years.
[0:46]
I'm at a point where I really need help.
[0:51]
And I have tried so many different ways.
[0:53]
I once made a video that literally had
[0:55]
in the title, I need your help, life
[0:57]
update. Over a thousand people watched
[1:00]
that and not one person helped
[1:03]
and that was hurtful
[1:06]
and confusing.
[1:09]
And I it's still confusing
[1:12]
especially when you compare that to what
[1:15]
they seem willing to pay for
[1:19]
and what they're not. And I I truly
[1:21]
don't know what to make of that.
[1:24]
So, I asked AI about that this morning
[1:26]
and it says it's about utility. So,
[1:31]
if you think you're getting something
[1:32]
out of it, then people are more willing
[1:34]
to pay for it.
[1:37]
You're getting a lot of free content
[1:38]
from me, but it's not free for me. My
[1:41]
entire life is built on it.
[1:46]
And this channel won't continue. It
[1:48]
won't exist forever if I don't survive.
[1:51]
And I'm about to lose a lot. gonna be in
[1:54]
a situation where
[1:57]
I truly can't even predict
[2:00]
where that will lead while at the same
[2:03]
time building something incredible that
[2:05]
has the potential to transform all kinds
[2:08]
of industries including YouTube.
[2:12]
This reflection engine I'm building with
[2:14]
artificial intelligence has the ability
[2:17]
to
[2:19]
open up all new pathways
[2:23]
and there's utility there, but I need to
[2:25]
be able to get there.
[2:29]
YouTube is a very flattening platform.
[2:33]
I have over 700 videos, but you're not
[2:37]
likely to ever see any of them. You'll
[2:40]
watch this one and then you'll just
[2:41]
scroll on to the next one. And you'll
[2:43]
just keep doing that and you'll do that
[2:44]
for the rest of your life. Whatever is
[2:49]
the freshest content, that's what you
[2:50]
watch.
[2:52]
That's a shallow way of
[2:56]
interacting with a channel like mine.
[2:58]
You miss so much context.
[3:02]
And it's not just me. This would be the
[3:04]
same for any channel that's that's like
[3:06]
mine
[3:08]
that just has depth to it.
[3:11]
And I know a way of
[3:14]
making that more accessible to you cuz
[3:16]
this isn't your fault. This is how the
[3:18]
platform is designed.
[3:22]
Everything that YouTube does is designed
[3:24]
just to keep you hooked into a
[3:28]
superficial bandwidth where you're just
[3:31]
the whole dopamine thing. It's just
[3:34]
they're manipulating you.
[3:39]
And for some reason, most people don't
[3:41]
resist that.
[3:43]
I mean, they they know that it's
[3:45]
happening, but they just they engage
[3:46]
with it anyways. And
[3:50]
it's possible to build ethical
[3:52]
platforms. Like I have the intelligence
[3:54]
and the ability and the skill to build a
[3:57]
whole new YouTube
[3:59]
where
[4:03]
where it doesn't flatten its creators.
[4:09]
I could even build like a scaffold over
[4:11]
the existing YouTube just a completely
[4:13]
different platform that's based on just
[4:15]
YouTube videos. uh every everybody's
[4:18]
YouTube videos. I have the skill for
[4:20]
this. I could do this where where you're
[4:23]
browsing YouTube on just a different
[4:25]
website or a different a different app
[4:27]
on your phone, but it's all YouTube
[4:29]
videos, but it's presented to you in a
[4:32]
different way that doesn't take
[4:33]
advantage of you. That's ethical.
[4:38]
That makes makes it so people like me uh
[4:41]
people who have channels with depth
[4:44]
don't feel flattened and don't feel
[4:46]
invisible,
[4:48]
who are truly engaged with
[4:51]
and where you're getting something out
[4:52]
of it, where you're not just randomly
[4:55]
scrolling through videos that
[4:59]
trying to find the thing that gives you
[5:00]
that dopamine hit you're looking for.
[5:02]
That's no way to live.
[5:06]
It's rotting out our society,
[5:12]
but I need the support of my audience
[5:14]
and I don't know how
[5:17]
how to get there. So, I'm just sharing
[5:21]
sharing a perspective with you this
[5:23]
morning.
